As an experienced and qualified mountain leader (ML), Jonathan can take groups or individuals into the UK mountains. Perhaps you are new to hill-walking or have some experience but there's a remote peak you'd like to climb via a high camp or perhaps you'd like to learn how to navigate across the Cairngorm plateau? All trips are customised to your wishes, your speed and capabilities and the terrain/weather conditions. I also lead Duke of Edinburgh teams - including Gold in remote terrain. I am based in Boat of Garten (Speyside) but this enables me to cover the whole of the Scottish Highlands. Mountain Leadership can be combined with staying in our apartments in Boat of Garten (Chapelton Steading)

Here's what was recorded by the ML assessor for the assessment:

Short interest talks given during first day of expedition before the weather became really brutal. Walked into dark from Ciste car park up N ridge of Cairngorm - over Macdui then down to Hutchison Hut area to camp with a 'get out of gaol free card' if weather got too unmanageable. Appalling visibility on Macdui good test of navigation skills and equipment! From Hutchison Hut area - wild night - onto Beinn a Chaorainn Bheag. Down to Fords of Avon then up over plateau area E of A 'Choinneach and through bealach between Bynack Beag and Bynack More to camp in Choire Dhuibh. All groups did a slight variation one this. Nasty weather and gusty. Walked into early evening. Walked out via Eagle Corrie. All groups met at Corrie Ciste car park. A pile of wood stacked for ski are repairs had been blown across by our parked cars during the past 3 days. I debriefed Jonathan Bellerby on the walk out as he had a plane to catch in Aberdeen - very strong candidate. Candidates demonstrated resilience and determination - impressed with everyone.
